Mark Leong Wins Wildlife Photojournalist of the Year!

Mark Leong has won the Natural History Museum/BBC Wildlife Photojournalist of the Year award for his remarkable photos accompanying my The Kingpin/Asia’s Wildlife Trade story in the January 2010 issue of National Geographic.  Check out his photos again.  Congratulations, Mark!

Three years in the making, The Kingpin:  An exposé of the world’s most notorious wildlife dealer, his special government friend, and his ambitious new plan hits news stands this month (National Geographic, January 2010).  The story continues The Lizard King’s tale with an in-depth look at Malaysia’s Anson Wong.  An advance web-version was released Dec. 15 on National Geographic.com.   The story was edited by Oliver Payne.  Please check it out along with the arresting photos by Mark Leong.
